There are lots of great places where players can place their CAMP. While some are great for building on flat terrain, others are great at generating extra Fallout 76 Caps. Here's what the best spots for a camp are in the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Fallout 76, and what their pros and cons are.
Vendor Placement
Lots of new players tend to put their vending machines on the top floor of their CAMP or at the back of their base to try and entice players to have a look around their CAMP. This isn't a good idea. The best thing to do is to place two or three vending machines right outside the player's base. If possible, the player should highlight their vending machines with lights and arrows to make them stand out. The easier it is for a player to find a vending machine, the more chance they will stay and spend some Caps.
Vault 76
Vault 76 is a popular place to build a CAMP. There's a steady influx of new players who pass through. Although they don't have a lot of Caps, they may end up coming back if they see something that they want to save up for. Also, since Vault 76 is a free fast travel location, players are more inclined to pay CAMPS that are close to a visit. Since quite a few players enjoy building close to Vault 76, other players are more likely to come and visit the area, so they can check out multiple CAMPS quickly.
The Wayward
The Wayward is located pretty close to Vault 76. It is one of the locations that new players are sent to straight after leaving the Vault. The Wayward is where a lot of the main storyline from Wastelanders takes place, so players of all levels will frequently need to travel to The Wayward. So, if they see a CAMP nearby, chances are, they will take a look.
The Rusty Pick
The Rusty Pick is located in the Ash Heap region. It's where Purveyor Murmrgh resides. Murmrgh sells legendary weapons, armor, and legendary modules to players. It is a very popular spot for players to visit when they are looking to craft or buy legendary items. Players who like to sell legendary items make more sales by placing their camp outside the Rusty Pick. It's also a free fast travel location which entices more players to visit the area. There also tends to be very few enemies around the Rusty Pick, which means CAMPS are less likely to be attacked.
Seasonal Events
There are several seasonal events in Fallout 76 that take place in fixed locations. For example, the Fasnacht Event takes place in Helvetia, and the Mothman Equinox Event takes place in Point Pleasant. These events take place at the top of every hour. Because of this, most players on the server will travel to the event location every hour. Placing a CAMP right next to a seasonal event location is a fantastic way to make lots of extra Caps, as players like to peruse before and after completing the seasonal event.
West Tek Research Center
The West Tek Research Center is the best place in all of Fallout 76 to visit for leveling up fast. Players can gain endless amounts of XP by 'running West Tek' (clearing out the building repeatedly). This is mainly done by high-level players. High-level players tend to have lots of Caps. If a player is grinding XP in West Tek and sees a CAMP nearby, they will most likely drop by and take a look. While it doesn't get as many visitors as the previous entries, the players who do visi are usually more willing to part with some of their hard-earned Caps.
The Whitespring Golf Club
The Whitespring Golf Club is popular for a number of reasons. There are free, fast travel points nearby, and there's lots of flat, clear land. It is an area that players regularly visit due to its proximity to the Whitespring Refuge and Mall. It's a popular spot for players to build, so it gets a lot of traffic. Players will often find themselves needing to head to Whitespring. Whether for quests, selling items, or crafting using the workbenches in the Whitespring Mall.
The Whitespring Station
The Whitespring Station is the location where most traders set up shop. For some reason, the vendor bot located in The Whitespring Station is the most popular vendor bot in the game. Because of this, players tend to travel there to offload some of their spare grenades and aid items. On a typical server, there are usually at least two CAMPS built close to The Whitespring Station. And, as mentioned in the first entry, if there are multiple CAMPS in close proximity, then more players will come and pay them a visit.
Drop Site V9
This location is usually used by higher-level players. Drop Site V9 is right next to the Fissure Prime Site. When Nuked, the Scorched Earth event is activated. This sees players go up against one of the game's bosses, the Scorchbeast Queen. This is a very popular event. Whenever it is active, most players in the lobby will join it. By placing a CAMP just north of Drop Site V9, the player will usually avoid being in the blast radius of the incoming Nuke. Because of how popular this event is, if a player builds a CAMP nearby, then they are almost guaranteed to receive lots of visitors every time somebody launches a Nuke over the Fissure Prime Site.
